Holidays
Johns Hopkins Health System offers seven paid holidays each year.
All employees are eligible for paid holidays. You’re paid according to the number of hours you’re regularly scheduled to work, up to a maximum of eight hours.
You’re eligible for paid holidays beginning on your start date unless you’re part of a union.
Union employees are eligible after completing 90 days of employment and should refer to their bargaining agreement regarding holidays.

Important notes about when holidays are observed
If you work the night shift, the holiday starts at the beginning of the night shift the day before the observed date.
If your area of work regularly operates seven days a week, you’ll be scheduled a substitute day off if:
- The observed holiday falls on your regularly scheduled day off, or
- You’re scheduled to work on the observed holiday.
